Good to know

Questions, answered

01Do I need a doctor's visit first?
No. California pharmacists with the required certification can provide travel vaccines and many travel medications directly, and Riley's pharmacists are trained and certified to do this safely and efficiently. Your pharmacist reviews your questionnaire and health history, and will refer you to a physician if your situation calls for one.
02How far before my trip should I come in?
Four to six weeks before departure is ideal, since some vaccines need multiple doses or lead time to protect you. Leaving sooner? Come in anyway. There is almost always something we can do, even last minute.
03What does it cost, and does insurance help?
The travel consult starts at $49, collected when you book. Insurance may be accepted for some vaccines and certain medications, but not for the consult, and exclusions apply. Travel kits are cash only, though additional medications may be billed through insurance. Discounted rates apply for friends and family traveling to the same destination. See pharmacy for details.
04What should I bring to my visit?
Your travel itinerary, any vaccine records you have, a list of medications you take, and your insurance card if you want us to check vaccine coverage.
05Do you issue the yellow card for yellow fever?
Yes. Riley's is an authorized yellow fever vaccination center, and you receive the international certificate of vaccination, the yellow card, at your visit.
06Can my family or travel group book together?
Yes. Complete one questionnaire per traveler and mention your group. Discounted rates for friends and family traveling to the same location.
